The T20I series between arch rivals Australia and England is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, September 11. This year, both sides faced up in the group rounds of the T20 World Cup, when Australia easily defeated England. Jos Buttler, England's regular captain, is out due to a calf injury.
Phil Salt will captain the squad in lieu of Buttler against a confident Australian team that recently destroyed Scotland 3-0 on the road. In the series against Scotland, a variety of players came up big for Australia, and they will be looking for a repeat performance against their fiercest rivals. There will be a transitional time in England cricket, with players such as Chris Jordan, Moeen Ali, and Jonny Bairstow being benched. Recently, Moeen announced his retirement from international cricket.
