ENG vs IND 2025, 3rd Test Day 5 Review: England take 2-1 with thrilling win at Home of Cricket

Ravindra Jadeja and India’s tailenders also showed the fight, in the end, England emerged victorious by 22 runs to go 2-1 up in the thefive-matchh Test series. England won the third Test at the historic Lord’s Cricket Ground by 22 runs to take a 2-1 lead in the Anderson Tendulkar Trophy with two games left to play.

The final day of the Test match was intriguing and poised, with India needing another 135 runs with six wickets to spare. The onus was on KL Rahul and Rishab Pant to take the tourists closer to the target. Ben Stokes and Jofra Archer were on the money from the outset in the morning session and made life difficult for the Indian batters.

Archer England and their first breakthrough on Day 5 as he bowled a pearler to send Pant packing. Rahul got a peach of a nip-backer from Stokes a few overs later, and India were in a spot of bother at 81/6. Things went from bad to worse for the Asian giants as Washington Sundar was also caught superbly by Archer off his own bowling. From 71/4, India slumped to 82/7 and staring down the barrel.

Nitish Kumar Reddy also joined with Ravindra Jadeja, and the duo tried to take the game deep by showing a lot of grit and determination with the bat. The Reddy was dismissed by Chris Woakes at the stroke of Lunch. India lost four wickets in the morning session, with Stokes leading the way by bowling a 9.2 over spell upfront.

The hopes rested on Jadeja, the only Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj for company. Bumrah has good support from the Saurashtra all-rounder as he batted 54 balls for the five runs. Jadeja added to the 35 runs off 132 balls with the ace speedster. 

Siraj joined Jadeja in the middle, and he also showed excellent application, and they added 23 runs to bring India within touching distance. In the final session of the day, Shoaib Bashir bowled back of a back-of-the-length delivery that turned to long way, and Siraj defended it nicely. The ball rolled back onto the stumps and one bail fell off, leaving England the cock a whoop.

 Siraj was also down on the haunches as he could not believe luck. Jadeja who also made an unbeaten 61 of 181 balls, was gutted as well. The Archer and Stokes with bagged three wickets and Engalnd as the won by 22 runs.
